This area is under development.

This working group is being set up as part of the CSIRO Emerging Science Initiative in Complex Systems Science. It aims to link Australian research in the theory and applications of cellular automata and related models in the study of complex systems behaviour. The intention is to operate by exchanging information via the internet and by holding periodic workshops. The objective is to exchange information and identify new research questions that could be tackled co-operatively. Depending on the level of interest, we may also develop subgroupings according to research area and/or location. Participation is invited from Australian researchers in these areas. The proposed activities of the group are:
Among the application area identified at the CSIRO Complex Systems Science Workshop (Sydney August 2002) are: urban development, fire behaviour, minerals processing and a range of geological systems. Techniques of interest included: cellular automata, network analysis and percolation modelling. |
